Artist's description:

A realism still life oil painting featuring a copper jam pan and apples. This is a large still life painting and suitable as a focal point in a room.
Approximate dimensions are 22 x 26" painting size and 30 x 34" framed. The frame is satin black with a contemporary profile and a gold slip. Oil paints on canvas panel.

My realism paintings demonstrate timeless quality and appeal. They are not minimalist nor are they over composed. I prefer a fusion of classical and contemporary influences. This has been achieved by lengthy research and the study of methods used over the centuries as well as the most cutting edge. For example I use the ancient Euclidean compositional rules. However my palette and colour mixing minimises the use of traditional earth pigments preferring a more modern method using mostly spectral pigments. This creates order in the composition and great light and luminosity in the subject.
I also attach great significance to the demonstration of the skills appreciated by the discerning collector. My paintings are detailed and realistic but never overworked. Elements which detract from the viewers experience are excluded or reduced and aspects which require increased significance are exaggerated. This is all part of my style and has been developed over many years.
I also enjoy hunting around for new objects to use in my paintings. I never develop a preconceived idea of of a suitable object, I prefer to keep looking until I see something I instinctively know is right. This is a permanent work in progress and very satisfying when after a considerable time without success a new item is discovered.
Collecting as a consequence has also developed into a passion. I have acquired over a period of more than 20 years a large collection of objects including wine decanters, glass, pewter, stoneware, pottery, etc.

I have been painting still life professionally for over 20 years. The painting will satisfy the most discerning.
