A large contemporary realism original still life oil painting suitable as a focal point in a room. The warm and homely composition painted in the "chiaroscuro" style consists of a contemporary rustic wine decanter, satsumas, apples, nuts on a pewter plate and a mortar and pestle. The painting will satisfy the most discerning collector. Approximate painting dimensions are 22 x 24" and approximate frame dimensions are 26.5 x 30.5". Oil paints on canvas panel.
I have been a professional still life painter for over 20 years. I am recognised as an authority on the genre and have collected a vast amount of subject matter over this period. Though my style has developed a fundamental reference throughout my work to the importance of light and mood will always be adhered to. I have been inspired by the old masters however an important part of my approach is to produce work which is contemporary. Consequently my technique, particularly in regard to pigment choice is very dependent on the most cutting edge spectral pigments which were not available to artists historically, as well as the use of long established materials. This fusion in technique creates a contemporary still life painting which has subtle natural colours and is imbued with luminosity.
