Painting inspired by the warm, enveloping hues of autumn, and the legend that its unmistakable hues come from Timothy, a woodland sprite who, saddened by seeing his beloved summer fade more and more, had a great idea. Together with the other leprechauns he dyed the leaves many colors at night: yellow, orange, red, brown, and in the morning, when the sun lit up the forest, the spectacle proved to be marvelous, even the trees were speechless. There was a great feast until the evening, and when the elves felt they had to repaint the leaves green as before, they were stopped by the great chestnut tree, king of the forest: he urged them not to do it because they were beautiful like that, besides that he had never had so much fun as on that day, and that anyway from then on the leaves would fall for the winter. And so every year since then, before winter steals the leaves from the trees, the elves color them these wonderful shades, a way of dressing the great forest in festive fashion.
