Artist's description:

I was inspired to paint this after taking an autumn walk where it still felt mild enough to be late Summer yet the leaves were beginning to turn and you could feel that Winter was around the corner. I've used a long thin canvas as I wanted to 'frame' the view in an unusual way so as to create a sense of depth with the foreground plants and leaves. The grasses and flowers in the foreground are pretty textured and I've used colours that were slightly more vibrant than reality to try and capture the brightness of the day. The canvas has been given a couple of coats of acrylic varnish so that it has a subtle sheen and the sides have been painted black so that it can be hung without a frame if desired

Materials used:

Acrylic on stretched canvas, acrylic varnish

The last sunny autumn day (2014)
