The millennial heritage of our culture is deeply rooted in the prehistoric Neolithic civilizations that flourished across this territory. Among them, the Cucuteni Culture, extending on both banks of the Prut River and across vast areas of its historical landscape, holds a particularly significant place. The symbolic richness of this ancient art continues to fascinate us today, offering an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
Cucuteni ceramics, shaped by the transformative power of fire, are distinguished by their refined geometric patterns and numerous female figurines associated with fertility and the cycles of life. The characteristic colors of Cucuteni pottery—red, white and black-brown—provide the chromatic foundation of this work. Red evokes passion and fire; black recalls the fertile earth; white suggests purity and infinity; while yellow introduces the presence of the sun, light and warmth.
The spiraling forms reinforce the idea of cyclicality, continuity and the perpetual movement of time. Graphic signs and fragments of text become visual traces of an imagined language, suggesting the transmission of knowledge, memory and identity from one generation to another.
The work thus becomes a space of dialogue between the distant past and the present, between inherited symbols and contemporary artistic expression. It seeks to recreate an atmosphere of communication, where cultural memory remains alive through transformation and reinterpretation.
