Still life of a plate of crabs, a vase of chrysanthemum, yam and tea ready for the visitor who will come to visit. This painting depicts the arrival of autumn and in China, it is when the chrysanthemum blossom to its fullest and showing the range of colours.

Autumn is also the season where the hairy crabs of the Tai Lake in China are most plum and fleshy. The crabs are available throughout the autumn where the females are most prized because of the roes they carry.

Painting comes ready framed in the traditional scroll style typical to Chinese painting.
