Artwork description:

A mysterious figurative Tawny Owl linocut print from my series of 'Five English Owls'. There is also a hand coloured version available in my listings.

The Tawny Owl is a much-loved bird, heard far more than seen, it's beautiful colouring a perfect camouflage for it's preferred woodland home.
It is thought the contact calls between females (ke-wick) and the answering male (‘hoo-hoo-oo’) is the source of the idea that a tawny owl’s call is ‘twit twoo’. And this misrepresentation may be derived from Shakespeare trying to make the overlapping calls fit into a verse in Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Printed with Charbonnel oil-based printing ink on specialist printing paper, Zerkall 210 gsm.
Printed in a limited edition of 30.
Please note that this is a hand made product and as such there are very slight differences in the printing of each print, which only adds to the uniqueness of the individual print.
