ON TEMPORARY HOLD WHILE ON EXHIBITION AT ASHEVILLE ART MUSEUM. I was one of those kids who grew up only wanting a horse. It took three decades before I got one of my own - and yes, they get in your blood. I used to live very close to Temple Farms, home of the Lippizan horses. I knew many of the riders in the Wednesday and Sunday performances. It was great to be able to sketch and paint them on site; this oil is from those on site sketches. What a trot this boy had! So extraordinarily forward and powerful. I've studied quite a bit of equine anatomy and love carving out the musculature as they move through their natural movements.
This original oil is 12 X 12" and is unframed. If you are interested in framing I offer framing services.
This equine portrait is freshly painted. It will be dry enough to ship after September 15, 2020.
Harding oil paints on stretched canvas.
