Original artwork description:

This is one of four quite abstract and expressive Acrylic Paintings done “en plein air” whilst watching a traditional dance and music performance at the famous Water Palace in Ubud, Bali. Ubud is a magical and mystical place full of traditional artists and surrounded by sacred rivers, forests and rice fields. My wife and I chose this particular hotel and room as it is next to the Palace and you can watch the performances from your balcony, a very special experience! The night we stayed was a typically hot and steamy tropical evening with a beautifully bright moon lighting up the scene as the heavy rain clouds floated by.
As the traditional performance lasted around 1-2 hours I had to paint very quickly to capture the scenes quite expressively.
This is a painting of one of the main characters from the traditional story performance known as the Suspicious King. He would come out and dance on his own to show his disapproval of what was happening between the other characters. Again, I watched his movements and tried to capture them using quick and expressive paint strokes. I quickly painted the background colours and wanted to show more details of his upturned feet and fingers which are traditional moves and very important to telling the story.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver to every country at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
