Original artwork description:

colour sumi calligraphy inks on Nepal handmade paper, 23 x 17.5 in., 58.5 x 45 cm.
This is a real hit from my past in Vancouver B.C.
I used to have my paintings on show in this morning specialty café…. ‘til there was a break in and my paintings were included in the theft. In those days I painted on location. I went around in my VW van, parked in front of my subject and did my work in the van.
The paper used here is a traditional handmade paper I got in Nepal back then. The unbleached paper is a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. The edges may be uneven as is the nature of handmade paper. On this piece a slight tear occurs at the bottom right near my signature, as seen in the 2nd close up photo.
My paintings in that period were done on location, without preliminary sketches nor any working lines on the paper. This is paint applied directly on a blank page.
The close up picture is of higher resolution to be able to get a feel for the brush strokes of the painting.
