This is an homage to Picasso and Matisse's war time paintings. Both artists chose to make work that was more symbolic than journalistic. Work that was a respite or alternative to the bad and ever worsening news of the day. As the invasion and contemptible war continues to take place in Ukraine after a grueling year I offer this still life to the courageous people standing up to a hostile aggressor.
