Artwork description:

This is a sunflower design created to form a handprinted wallpaper design. The image contains a sunflower with four dandelions attached to the sunflower, being symbolic of the invasive species of the dandelion feeding of the sunflower when it was introduced to the Americas hundreds of years ago.

The image/ print was created as part of my ongoing series Lost Generations and looks at various plant species that were transported around the planet, from one country to another, introducing invasive species and leading to potential ecological and climate issues.

On another level it also explores the idea of explorers bringing back various plant and animal species and introducing them to their home countries.

[I am also available for commissioning if you would like handprinted rolls of this wallpaper block print. DM for more infomation.]

Materials used:

Oil based printing ink on wallpaper underlay.
