Strawberry tree. This plant is depicted on the coat of arms of Madrid

This artwork is one of my favorite, it participated in several art exhibitions. I painted it especially for Exhibition of botanical art «Flower splashes» organized by SABA (Society of Artists of Botanical Art), Sochi Art Museum, Sochi, Russia (18/09-11/10/2020). The small flowers of the strawberry tree look like lilies of the valley, and the berries are green at first, then turn yellow, orange, and finally acquire a bright red color. Jams, compotes and liqueurs are made from them. They also can be eaten fresh, but if you eat too much, you can get drunk.

This painting is one of a kind hand drawn artwork. It was done with lightfast professional watercolors on archival acid free watercolor paper (Saunders Waterford, UK)
