One of my favourite magazines is World of Interiors. In one issue they had photos of a glorious American Federal house and in the kitchen, a watermelon was being cut on a wooden board; the image was like an old painting.
So I decided to reproduce part of the scene as a painting from the 18th century, the period of the house.
The wood substrate is also at least 100 years old and rescued from a house on the Kent coast, undergoing renovation.
This is my homage to 18th century Folk Art.
