Second in the series 'Birds on Slate' where I capture some of Britain's wonderful wildlife, flowers and plants.
Starlings may seem like plain birds but their black feathers are beautiful in the light. I love the iridescent blues, greens, purples and tiny spots of creamy white against the dark black of their plumage. I wanted to reflect these vivid colours in the birds surroundings and lavender was the perfect flower to pick out some of these hues.
This piece is painted on reclaimed Devon slate.
