Original artwork description:

The inspiration for this picture came from a need to create my own modern vanity with ancient details. Please note the ionic columns flanking the mirror. This also gave me the opportunity to put in a mirror reflection. Because the maple veneer paper vanity is light I chose a deep plum for the walls as contrast. Also - so that it would not be completely neat - I opened one of its drawers, giving us the smallest peek of what's inside.

I completed the composition with two cats in a staring contest. The white one I had many years ago and named it Lily, till I found out it was a male and renamed him Alastair. The tuxedo cat foretold a cat I currently have, Samson.

This work is framed with UV glass. I think the simple molding and color enhance the picture.

Materials used:

Paper, wood veneer paper, gold foil, glue
