Even in quite bitter cold, crocus peek up, take a little look around, decide it is ok, and bring spring to us in an instant!
I have created these collages on paper prepared for oilpainting so it is able to take all the different layers I will add to the collage. I start by giving the entire paper a coat of black gouache and then I search out the colors I want for the vase, in this case all pink tones to contrast with my crocus. I then glue them on in "good order", so that it is to my liking, overlapping and color correcting as I go along, the crocus and leaves are all made from torn strips of paper. When I have come this far, a coffee is needed and a good look to make sure I like the composition. Then I apply colored pencil to the back ground, drawing lots of little stripes all over the back ground, building up the color by using several, up to 4 tones, this gives a very rich look that I love. With a caligraphy brush I apply thin layers of gouache to most of the collage, again creating a very rich, almost painted look. In the making of these collages my worktable and the floor surrounding looks like a hurricanse has gone through, and I have glue all the way up to my hair... well, that's the price of being in the throw of making something, and I love it!
All done and dusted, and dried, I varnish the piece with a UV resistant varnish.
The size of the paper is 7.5" x 10" ( 19 cm x 25 cm)
The collage is signed on the front and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
I ship the collage from my studio in Denmark, it comes safely packaged (see my reviews) and I hope you will enjoy it on your wall, if you would like to purchase my flowers as a pair or a threesome, I'll be very happy to refund your shipping.
