Artist's description:

This painting was created with multiple layers of ink, gel medium, acrylic paint, and salt. It is a highly textured piece that includes graphite along with the ink. There is a final layer of lacquer finish.

This was a tough painting to make. I'd change something on it and not be satisfied. Finally, after the multiple layers, the painting arrived at a satisfying finish for me. When I was creating the piece I was thinking about river water, lake water, our drinking water and all that is added by chance or on purpose. I thought a lot about Flint, MI and about pristine waters of places that no one has been. The juxtaposition between these two is what consumed me while I was painting.

Materials used:

ink, gel medium, mulberry paper, salt, acrylic paint
