This piece is one of a series of six (so far). I often work in series as it stops me being too precious about one. Also the way I work, using oils and cold wax, means that there needs to be time to allow the paint to set, before adding further layers. There are many layers in all my paintings which are rendered in this media, and this amongst them. As I tend to work intuitively, the painting develops over time, and is influenced by emotion and memory.
