My paintings investigate the highs, the lows, the anxieties and heightened emotions that come with being a parent and have been described as being beautiful and whimsical but also psychologically charged. The constant observation of my children, myself and the home provides the magical starting points and necessary stimuli for my work, which also incorporates pattern, animals and elements of landscape.


I am very interested in patterns, high contrasting colours and interior design, and am also increasingly using animals in my work, considering the adage ‘never work with children or animals’. I am drawn to the innocence in the postures, facial expressions and behaviour of children and animals that has diminished by the lived experience in adults.
