'Shuppatzu' means departure in Japanese. This painting was part of a solo exhibition in Rye, England in 2021, called Translations. I was living abroad at the time and beginning a new adventure in my life. The promontory to the left shows this departing point and the large expanse the (then yet) unwritten future. It's painted in beautiful Michael Harding oils - a calm palette except for the orange dash/flame of excitement.
