Original artwork description:

Listening to the radio on a warm winter day. Benaulim, Goa is the full text, as written on this, the 2nd panel
Panel 2 of 2 panels, colour sumi inks on artisanal watercolour paper 190gm , each 14.7 x 10.7 in., 37.5 x 27.3 cm.,
Available separately or together while available.
This is another hit from my past which I only recently located tucked away with some old personal things. This is from my early travels with paper and colours in hand. And it’s quite a personal project, an early self portrait of sorts, an account of my early travels, and I've very few references of that time. This one is a close up sitting at a table with my short wave radio, thus the title, and my kit of colours and brushes that I used back then.
Over time, moving around too much one loses and finds things along the way. Some paintings got misplaced, and some discoveries such was this paper from the Gandhi ashram shops. Not acid free, but has maintained well. The traditional Chinese paints, the type ground with water on a wet stone are of great quality, and the painting looks as fresh today as the day it was painted.
This was done on location, In this case out in front of a simple backpackers bungalow hut, not far from a small town and a beach, in Goa, South India. As I recall the village itself was on beach sand, and sand fleas were a pest, as drawn into the lower silver band of the first panel. This is done without preliminary sketching or construction lines, just paint on paper. That’s pretty much how I worked in those days. Here the mood is well captured.
The close up pictures are to get a feel for the brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s me (now) with both paintings for perspective.
