Artist's description:

One of the easiest Tors on Dartmoor to climb, and one of the most distinctive. This painting represents one of the hottest days of the year when the sky over the moor was a clean expanse of blue that carried the tiniest whips of high cirrus clouds.

This is a box canvas so the artwork is painted around the sides as well. I have used a palette knife for the foreground in an attempt to increase the contrast between the clean flat sky and the rough bushes and rocks in the foreground.

Materials used:

Oil paint on canvas

Sheeps Tor (2018)
