The fate of the women who stood at the origins of photography was quite difficult: in the period of the emergence of new art the equipment used for photography was unhandy and heavy. One had to carry around all the necessary things - wooden tripod, camera, corrosive chemicals and plates. In addition, many skeptics simply did not take women photographers seriously. However, despite all these difficulties and the critical attitude of the public, the names of many talented women photographers -Julia Margaret Cameron, Lady Clementina Hawarden, Frances Benjamin Johnston- have been preserved till the present time.

This painting was hand-painted, using professional "Winsor&Newton" watercolors and 140lb (300g/m2) Arches cotton watercolor paper.
