I made a series of seated figures in paper clay a little while ago. This was the first, and the most realistic. It works well and has a good strong feel about it, with a rather interesting face and good stance. The later ones became more and more abstract, but at this point, the figure is still very realistic. Paper clay is clay with tiny paper pieces mixed in. With the high firing (up to 1250 degrees) the paper burns out and the copper oxide on the surface gets sucked in, making the form look like and archaeological figure. I like that.
