I like doing 16x12''oil sketches, either before a big painting (to get into the mood) or after a big painting (to use up the paint on my palette). Sometimes these turn out quite well, like this one which I painted at Sandsend, near Whitby.
It is in a simple but becoming, white, wooden frame.
