This pretty little piece titled 'Rust and Weave' is a combination of two photographs, one of rusted metal and one of a heavily weaved fabric. Combined into the traditional manulua pattern, one of the earliest designs found in polynesian art. The edge has been finished with gold metallic thread.

In this series of works I am exploring the history of pattern. In my early twenties I became aware that not everyone saw the world in the same way. I see a fine veil of swirling, dancing and colourful dots over everything - it turned out many other people didn't. Since then I have been intrigued by how we physically view the world differently and exploring more about our use of pattern in culture as well as patterns found in nature.
