Roundism - 20-02-18
This oil painting is the final piece on the series of the pastel and graphite pencil drawing on the same theme. I decided to abstract the female figure even more, reducing the oily reflections on her body to cubist planes, creating rhythym and diction of light and dark tones. I sought for a suiting balance in colour saturation and unsaturation as well as the basic forms (circles, rectangulars and triangles). It is all about the search for a balance in variation and repetition according to Johannes Itten’s studies of forms.
