Original artwork description:

There is a 'hidden' valley a few miles north west of Lyme Regis on the south coast. An amazing surprise awaits in the form of an ancient viaduct that dominates from some perspectives of the valley. It is eerily quite and a fantastic place to sketch and draw. This particular scene is towards the valley bottom. I sketched the scene from afar, made colour notes and photographed the moment. I wanted to capture the play of light which is so fleeting in an oil painting.

On returning to the studio I worked on the composition and started to produce the final artwork. It certainly lifts one's mood to see the beauty of light in nature.
