This is perhaps my favorite painting from this series. It is a loose interpretation of my time exploring Cinque Terra, and the Ligurian Coast of northern Italy. I hiked, biked, and boated along the rugged coast of towering cliffs and colorful villages. This region is so rich and romantic, I could paint a hundred paintings and still want to paint more. This painting is inspired by one of these villages, which is perched high on the cliffs, with its church on the top, towering over the sea. It feels like the whole village is reaching higher towards the sacred sun. Light and warmth illuminate this painting and give it a divine glow.
Original Oil painting applied with brushes on archival canvas. Painting is wrapped and painted around the sides, and stretched on heavy-duty stretcher bars. Painting measures 18" x 32" x 1.5." An archival varnish has been applied to accentuate the vibrancy of colors and help protect the original painting.
