Original artwork description:

RÊVES is part of the artist's series TRADITIONS AND CONTINUITY. In this project, Sophie Roy explores the notion of tradition, which is associated with continuity, transmission and preservation. She combines archival photographs of native Americans taken by Edward Sheriff Curtis at the turn of the 20th century, with her own images of contemporary urban landscapes. Sophie Roy was initially inspired by the photos of Edward S. Curtis because there was something universal about them. This is, among other things, what she tried to highlight in this project. Traditions and Continuity has been shown in six exhibitions from 2017 to 2019.
