Original artwork description:

This is an original artwork, painted with acrylic paints. The sides of the canvas are painted and it's ready to hang. I always use 1.5" thick gallery wrapped cotton canvas for its durability and its 3D effect. The canvas is stretched over high quality pine wood frames and stapled on the back providing a clean finish on the sides. Since the sides are painted, the painting can be left unframed for the contemporary look.

I'm currently working on a new series called Renaissance. In this series my goal is to emphasize the beauty and importance of objects that were once great technological inventions and irreplaceable in our lives, but have become mostly forgotten. Nevertheless many of us attach strong sentimental value to them.

Objects such as a typewriter, movie projector, camera, and gramophone are depicted in my paintings in a traditional realistic portrait style, set in a contemporary vibrant abstract background. The traditional realism emphasizes the origins of the vintage objects and the contemporary abstract background is a link to our modern day society. Similarly the combination of cool and warm color palettes for the
depicted objects and backgrounds reinforces the visual contrast between the objects and the settings. By creating a strong contrast in my color palette and by combining two very different artistic styles in each painting, these vintage objects are cast in a new light, creating a dialog with the viewer.

Materials used:

acrylic and marble powder
