Continuing a series of retro items from childhood, this new painting / illustration shows a pair of classic 1980s style roller skates. I didn't personally own skates like these but I'm pretty sure that my older sisters did, and I've seen lots of similar pairs at vintage markets since then.

I always loved the colourful, simple and optimistic design of this type of skate, making it a perfect subject for my style of painting. As ever, I'm aiming for a flat and bold 'graphic' style rather than realism, a style influenced by modern graphic design and the classic pop artists of the 60s, like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.

It was made using acrylic paint and Posca paint pens on high quality acrylic paper. Please note that the painting comes unframed, but I've taken a few pictures of it in a black frame for display purposes. It's a normal A3 size though so it's easy to find a frame for it.
