Acrylic ink on acid free watercolor paper. 10 x 12.75 in, 25 x 32.5 cm
Action caricature and portrait. Based on a pencil sketch of the same (where has that sketch gone to…). Pencil sketch done on location, inside the clubs, surrounded by jostling crowds and working in dim light. The people were not really posing, just being themselves.
The many sketches, and a few pieces done in ink such as this one, form a series all done between 1999 and 2000 in various nightclubs in Singapore. Many of the sketches were bought up bythe until then unsuspecting clubber!
Close up picture shows the brush work. And that’s a rare photo of me back then sketching in a busy club.
