This is a large scale painting of the inside of a giant quartz geode crystal. The actual crystal formation weighs several thousand pounds and some of the individual crystals are over 10 inches long. This is a very special living stone and I wanted to paint its portrait. I chose a quiet and softer lighting situation to show case its delicate transparency. This was my first crystal painting.
