Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

The quail family has taken over my garden. They're hiding among the asters; one was perched on the bird condos. When I come down to work in the garden, there's a whir of feathers as they simultaneously fly away.
I love their little top notches. When they waddle around the yard and garden, the topnotch bops up and down.

I really focused on patterns in this image. I like the simple white marks for feathers and the more elaborate marks for their breast feathers.

I drew the image onto linoleum, cut it out, and printed it with oil-based ink onto Italian Fabriano paper.

Materials used:

linoleum, oil-based ink, Italian Fabriano paper
