Artwork description:

This is a one of a kind cyanotype.

The cyanotype process uses a mixture of iron compounds, which when exposed to UV light and washed in water oxidise to create Prussian Blue images.

I used my own body to create this image. I positioned myself in Bālāsana, "Child's Pose", a traditional yoga asana. Child's pose flexes the body's internal organs. It lengthens and stretches the spine which helps alleviate stress and anxiety.

I didn't know how the image was going to come out but I like the shape of the body floating mysteriously in the Prussian blue on this large paper support and the experience I had sustaining the pose whilst making this. I added floral elements to the background, gold leaf & metallic paint to add an ethereal sense to the piece

Available unframed but hung as shown

Materials used:

Paper, ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide, water, gold leaf, metallic acrylic paint
