Kimonos were not just an item of clothing , they often had a meaning to the wearer. A fireman might wear a Phoenix on the inside of his kimono to protect him from the fire .
In zen and fengshui Plum blossom is a symbol of hope and beauty through the winter months to blossom in the spring. It is said to ward of evil. And the moon also of new beginnings.
Painted traditionally using delicately gilded metal leaf and genuine silver leaf on the moon.
