Original artwork description:

I've learnt a lot this week about the speed demon that is the peregrine falcon. It's one of the most widely distributed birds in the world, being found most places you'd find the ultimate survivor the head-bobbing feral pigeon.

PFs (peregrine falcons) have been recorded during their hunting stoop (diving) at speeds up to 242mph! Quicker than a politician running to lick the shoes of an oil tycoon!

Their malar stripe, an area of dark feathers under their eyes, is there to reduce the sun's glare. This stripe is larger in PFs living in areas that experience higher solar radiation.
