This sculpture is one of a series entitled Paso, meaning passage, describing a central channel and the direction of the gouge chisel marks. This slim form tapering up to a point, carved from seasoned oak, has a smooth finish on the exterior, and carved texture inside. It depicts a simple beautiful piece of oak on a base from the same tree, both carved in the same way with an equal focus on the interior of the form as the exterior; textured inside, smooth on the outside to give a tactile finish.
