Imagine if you had a paint roller that could automatically turn a boring grey wall into a colourful rainbow. Well that's exactly what's happening in my latest canvas painting. I've painted quite a few images similar to this before because I like the idea of representing the actual act of painting within my work, hence the paint roller and the hand holding it.
The colours are based on the classic rainbow flag image by Gilbert Baker, the California-based artist who advocated gay rights.
The end result is an incredibly bright and vivid image that would brighten up any room in the house.
It is painted in acrylics and Posca paint pens on a stretched cotton canvas. The painting could be displayed sideways too, I quite like it with the hand at the bottom though, as pictured.
Size -
11 x 13.7 inches
28 cm x 35 cm
1.5cm thick
I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield, but also by modern graphic designers.
Postage will be first class in a cardboard envelope.
