My studio is on the gulf coast of Florida and I am inspired by the life of the estuaries and natural springs here. Osprey (Fish Hawks) are a common sight and a real inspiration for me. Mason creek empties into the bay just beside the Homosassa river. The Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge is a protected area with a observation tower on a large expanse of salt marsh, perfect for bird and wildlife observing. I began this painting after studing the scene and deciding to paint a scene from the elevation of the tower.
