Dramatic large painting taken from the tragic works of William Shakespeare. Painted extremely rough and loose. Inspired greatly by the work of Kerry Darlington, William Blake and the wonderful John Everett Millais.
Painted in almost abstraction the tragic figure of Ophelia leaps into the river to commit suicide, her sad lifeless body being pulled deeper into the water flowers until she floats gracefully down to the depths of her cold dark blue watery grave. Such a subject makes a fantastic painting full of depth and feeling.
The paint is laid on thickly and in certain parts a oil mixture has been left to go hard to create a rigid texture to give a great impression of the mixture of water, hair and drapery.
