Portrait of the Duchess of Rutland with her Daughters

Portrait of the Duchess of Rutland with her Daughters

Large group portrait of the lovely Duchess of Rutland with her Daughters. I was asked to paint this portrait for the Duchess to hang in her private apartments in the beautiful Belvoir Castle. Whilst discussing plans for this portrait I was then asked by her Grace to paint a portrait of the Duke with his Sons. I took to my brushes and created these lovely group portraits. They are photographed casually in situ at the castle.

Colours glazed for depth and to create the illusion of different tones and shadows. Makes the painting much richer especially after it is varnished. Gives more weight to the actual head.
