Artwork description:

My drawings focus on people and often fish and underwater life. The narrative that continues through all my work stems from beliefs and folklore surrounding afterlife and my attempt to align these with conflicting theories of evolution.
The narrative of this print comes from an imagined underwater afterlife where we return to a fish form. The rigid geometric fish patterns the figure is amidst are reflected in the skin of the figure.

This linocut is printed from 5 blocks where the textured/organic marks are achieved through using a caustic etch on the lino. The layers include metallic silver ink and metallic gold ink which shimmer when caught in the light.

Traditional grey lino, caustic soda etch, oil based printmaking inks, etching press, printmaking paper
