Original artwork description:

On the borders
Lavender blue and lilac sky,
Wiltshire hills in the distance,
Looking from the North Dorset ridge,
I see the marshy pasture land of late Spring,
Overlapping trees and meadow grasses.

Words and feelings of painting outside in a nature reserve where the three counties meet.
Original impressionist watercolour painting on extra rough textured watercolour paper, cold pressed bockingford 300gsm 140lb. I used a wet on wet technique for the background applying with my Chinese brush watery loose washes of crimson and cobalt blue with a dash of Gamboge yellow.
I felt the elements up there on the hillside and created the distant ridge and lower plains with my filbert brush. A gentle scrubbing technique using my filbert brush on the side for the trees and mark making for the tiny details with a fan brush.I etched out the paint in the foreground with my nail.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper cold pressed bockingford 300gsm 140lb, filbert brush, fan brush, Chinese brush, Japanese watercolours,
