Watercolor painting “Night light. The city of Lviv” was drawn from life during my plein-air cycling trip across western Ukraine in the summer of 2020.

This is my first night sketch in this beautiful city day and night. At night, it is drawn in a completely different way than during the day, and time passes in a different way, and all impressions, sensations are completely different. And you have to draw almost by touch, often relying only on experience while mixing and applying paints.

We are looking for a place with light from a lantern, because a very hard light is obtained from a headlamp, which distorts the colors of paints, and softer from a city lantern. Of course, such a night drawing from nature entails some inconvenience (so that you do not want to sleep you have to eat something all the time, and other extreme situations ...), but the result also justifies the efforts, because in the workshop such a truthful and vital plot will not work as from nature.

The work was painting by professional Italian watercolors Maimeri Blu on 100% cotton watercolor paper 300 g/m2, which guarantees the durability of the preservation of the work under proper storage conditions, decorated under glass.

All the funds raised from the sale of my paintings are used to make my dream of a mobile workshop based on a minibus come true. Now I travel the world on a bicycle, it is very exciting, but for greater productivity I need a minibus in which I will live, travel and paint.
