Artist's description:

A reversible Perspex panel composed of two prints on handmade Japanese Gampi paper collaged together to form a single image.

Msasa leaves make shadows on a tent and susurrate stirring memories of a woman on a boat ferry who sat in quiet dignity while I drew her. This piece is a layering of perception, memory, experience and sensation. A photograph of msasa leaves on a tent that I took on a recent trip to the Mukuvisi Woodlands in Zimbabwe and a drawing that I made many years ago in Kariba, Zimbabwe. I printed each on handmade Japanese Gampi paper and collaged them together with acrylic medium on a base of non-reflective opal Perspex. The panel can be placed either side up against a solid surface or in front of a light source.

Materials used:

Handmade Japanese Gampi Paper, Opal non-reflective Perspex, Acrylic medium
