I take copious photographs when I'm ski training in the mountains and then use them as inspiration when I return home to London. When at home, I paint scenes that calm and soothe me in the same way that mountains do when I'm skiing in them.
I paint the sky slowly, building up thin layers of paint so that it fades away into the background. I then start to build up the layers of paint on the mountain itself, smoothly over the virgin snow and more roughly, with a palette knife, over the rockier areas. I keep on working at it until it feels finished. Then I stop.
