Original artwork description:

Peeking through the boughs of this pine, I was taken with the sudden spring blossoming of the dogwoods, the redbuds and everything in between. It was fortunate to be able to paint with a birds eye view on a beautiful spring day in the mountains. This original plein air oil is 6 X 8" and is archival in quality and will compliment any collection with its intensity and beauty.

The palette is a new one - I've added transparent red oxide, yellow ochre and permanent sap green - which is what the scene screamed out for. A recent heavy rain prompted the greening up of the mountains and thousands of dogwoods to bloom. Expressionism bursts forth with every stroke.

My work is best known for its unique ability to show the moment of experience, and then interpret, the extraordinary influence of the natural world. My paintings reflect a deep sensitivity heightened by an urgent sense that that world is under siege.

Materials used:

Oil paints, stand oil, linseed oil, linen on archival board,
